Christie Billions at 27

I still can’t believe I’m 27 this year, and officially in my late twenties dancing towards the big 30. Was it not just yesterday when I celebrated my 25th birthday? How time flies!!

I remember one time I randomly mentioned to a friend that I was tired of growing up, I just wanted to grow without the responsibilities, which is impossible. There is no way you’d grow and you won’t outgrow who you are, which would in turn bring you to a point of responsibility.

The more you grow, the more everything changes about you. Your thought pattern, eating habits, and career aspirations, amongst others.

In the past year, I’ve grown from who I used to be. I have attempted new things like launching Fittobeemployed Africa, a platform committed to empowering talents with employability skills to make them fit for employment in the digital economy. I remember promising myself that I would launch it before my next birthday and God helped me to.

I have had a mixture of emotions and experience, but one thing has stood out for me, complete trust and obedience to God. If anyone were to ask me how I made it through, my response would be “God did it”.

Not to sound cliche or anything, that’s my experience. I am a first-hand witness. When I wrote what I wrote in my birthday post last year, I had no idea the route God was going to take me through. All I knew was that I wanted him to lead me on a journey to becoming the woman he wanted me to become.

Rich Woman 🔥

I didn’t even know what it looked like, but I followed blindly, and the result amazed me as well. I’ve grown from being timid to becoming confident and bold to take a stand and not cower to pressure.

I’m actively learning that God makes everything beautiful in his time. It sometimes gets tiring waiting and expecting a miracle or expecting something to happen, but my anchor has been and will always be;

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

I am also learning that trusting God alone is not enough, I have to be willing to have him invade my space and my life from the inside out, this way, I’m handing over the wheels of my life to him, trusting him to do as he deems fit. After all, I’m only a steward.

In this past year, I have actively learned to put myself first in everything I’m doing. I do more introspection to find out what I could have done differently given the same situation. I am learning to extend grace to myself the same way I would to other people around me. For someone who overthinks, 80% of the time, it’s almost impossible, but every day I’m getting better.

This year, I choose to celebrate the progress God has helped me to make with my life instead of comparing or getting worked up about the things that are not working or coming through. I choose to be on the appreciative side of the fence not only because it is the best side to be but because I have seen that worrying does not add to anything instead it depletes what you already have.

Just like every year for the past 5 years, I’m excited about my birthday. I’m excited to have added a new year to my age. I’m happy that I’m growing and it’s obvious that I am indeed!

I’m looking forward to celebrating my 28th birthday in my husband’s house, yes, I’m looking forward to getting married to the love of my life.

I’m looking forward to scaling my baby, Fittobeemployed Africa from being a newborn to a crawling baby if not a walking baby. (Register the company, and get our first set of investment/investors)

I’m looking forward to being recognized as a force in the ecosystem piloting the move to help young people reach their full potential in the economy.

I’m looking forward to reaching my second 100 stories on Medium and hitting 1,000 followers.

I’m looking forward to blindly following God’s plan and desire for my life.

Happy Birthday Christiana Olawumi! 🚀 🚀
